A reminder note went home on Friday about our NWEA MAP reading test today. This will be our winter assessment. We will take one more in the spring.

Fall Make-up Pictures

Fall make-up pictures will be Wednesday, November 8th. These are the pictures that will be used in the yearbook! Students must be in uniform.

Student Council Food Drive

The 2017 Student Council Food Drive begins this week! The drive will run this Tuesday-Thursday and all of next week.  Students will turn in the canned goods to their homeroom teacher.

Walk-a-thon

Thank you PTO and parents for helping us have an amazing Walk-a-thon 2017! It was rainy, but we all still rocked it! 

Honors Program

I’m extremely proud of my kiddos for working so hard for the Quarter 1 Honors Program!

Walk-a-Thon

Walk-a-Thon is Friday, Novemeber 3rd! 2nd grade will go outside from 12:00-2:30.

Walk-a-Thon

Please continue to collect donations for our 4th Annual WSE Walk-a-Thon! Turn in donations of $35 or more by Oct. 25th to make sure you receive your Walk-a-Thon t-shirt. The deadline for all donations is Friday, October 27th.  100% of the funds raised will help with technology upgrades and school improvement.

Fall Pictures

Fall picture orders are due Wednesday, Oct. 18th.

Wednesday will also be the make-up day for anyone who missed fall picture day. Uniforms are required!

We will begin lining up in the classroom at 8:30am. We will exit through the multipurpose room and head to the track. I can't wait to see everyone's costume! 

Like A Good Spartan

These sweet girls were pulled from the Like A Good Spartan jar today! They had Chick-fil-A lunch with Dr. Breeden! Yay, Airen and Lauren!

 

Chick-Fil-A Night

Mark your calendar for WSE Chick-fil-A Night! It will be on Thursday, September 28th from 3:30pm until 8:00pm at 4610 Poplar Avenue. Don't forget to mention that you are with WSE!!!

The last day for Grandparents' Breakfast is tomorrow, September 15th! It will begin at 7:30 am. If you haven't prepaid, you can pay at the door.

Yankee Candle Fundraiser

The Yankee Candle Fundraiser kick-off was yesterday! Packets went home in Wednesday folders. Let me know if you have any questions! 

Solar Eclipse

We had a blast viewing the solar eclipse at WSE!!! We also enjoyed our Moon Pies, Sun Chips, Milkyway bars, and Starbursts! Thank you, parents and PTO!!

I hope that your weekend has been pleasant. Tomorrow is a big day! We will view the solar eclipse!!! 

Please remind your child about the importance of keeping his/her protective glasses on. We will review safety practices again in the morning. 

If you have any reservations, please let me know ASAP so that your child remains inside. Only students with signed permission forms will go outside. 

Feel free to come and view the eclipse with your child. Make sure you bring your own eclipse glasses as we just have enough for the students. 

Viewing will begin around 1:20 according to the correspondence sent by the school.

Pastries with Parents

Pastries with Parents is scheduled for Monday, August 14 from 7:45-8:15am. 

This event will be a time of fellowship for our new parents.

First Day of Second Grade 2017-2018

We had a BLAST on the first day of school! The kiddos thoroughly enjoyed being creative for our Play-Doh writing activity. 

The students came up with concepts that they felt like they will need extra help with this year, how our classroom should look every day, and what they hope to learn in second grade. We used this to begin discussing classroom rules. The students came up with great rules for our classroom!
